About Us

Established in 2010 and located on the grounds of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Mater Dei Academy is a welcoming community of active parents, faculty, and administration and offers a Catholic education for students in grades K-8 and Preschool.  Our faculty is certified by the State of Ohio and is fully committed to teaching in a Catholic school.

Parents can expect a proven quality Catholic education with a challenging academic curriculum in a faith-filled environment.  Students are challenged to grow in their spirituality through weekly Mass attendance, service projects, retreats and daily religion classes.  Mater Dei students are also challenged to be problem solvers, collaborators, creative thinkers, and communicators.  Our students are well prepared for any high school and continue to excel in their next level of education.

Technology is used in all of our classrooms to enhance our curriculum.  All classrooms are equipped with an interactive whiteboard, iPads, and ELMO’s.  Students have access to a state of the art computer lab, all 6th-8th grade students have school issued Chromebooks, and teachers have access to classroom sets of iPads for their interactive classroom lessons.

There are many positive changes taking place in education. Mater Dei Academy earned its STEM school designation from the State of Ohio in 2017. STEM which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math becomes STREAM in our school with the addition of Religion and the Arts. STREAM is a way of teaching that uses problem based learning to help students grow as critical thinkers, innovators, and problem solvers. This philosophy fits well with our vision of teaching students to be creative, to be risk-takers, to be collaborators, to be positive communicators, and to take ownership of their learning. It is always exciting to see the positive growth taking place in our students and in our school!

The enrollment for the 2020-21 school year in grades K through 8 is 319 students.

All employees and volunteers who have contact with students undergo thorough screening, including background checks through the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation & Identification (BCI&I). For complete information on screening policies, see the revised Policy for the Safety of Children in Matters of Sexual Abuse, section 1.2 (p. 3).
