Mater Dei Academy graduates Jaymes Vyskocil and Conner Lorenz, and eighth grader Ian Vrban volunteered to spend two days at John Carroll University with Mr. Minadeoto to renew a twenty-five seat computer lab. This is our first experience opportunity as part of our eighth grade tech program where students get a real world information technology certification. This past year Jaymes certified as a Master in the International Computer Competency Certification Global Standard 6 (IC3GS6). Our students had to remove and inventory central processing units (CPU), keyboards and mice, then pack them for transport. Then they unboxed the new CPUs, keyboards, and mice, inventoried and installed, loaded the base operating system, and then worked with the JCU tech supervisor for sign-off. These beneficial field experience opportunities are coordinated through the Classroom-to-Corporations non-profit company owned and operated by former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel school student Joseph Tarasco. Classroom-to-Corporations is committed to helping junior high and high school students to achieve real world technology certification, experience, and possible employment. Classroom-to-Corporations also accepts donated IT equipment from industry to repurpose it for schools and we have benefited from this operation. Mater Dei is STEM all the way!!!
